Stash-o-rama

new fabric

Lookie, lookie! I finally got the rest of the fabric I had sent to a non-existanting address. Four out of the six are already earmarked for quilts I've got on the go.

Puppy Love

next quilt

Once again, I've missed the mark on getting a quilt made for my friends baby. Even with nine months notice, I'm now a month in the hole. I spent the better part of the morning, washing, ironing and cutting out the pieces. Tomorrow I will sew.

I should have been knitting all summer, but I got carried away with sewing, and now I'm reading the Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. August is when I'm getting back into the scarves, so I spent a lazy sunday afternoon gathering my new projects.

This is my favourite piece of ceramic, in my collection. I never did make it back to Arts on King before it closed down...too bad...I'll just have to cherish this one forever!

My cousin is getting married tomorrow, and I just became versed on the traditions of a Tea Ceremony. I deperately need a red envelope, however, have no time or desire to buy a pack of a 10 or more, so I made one instead!

This is what happens when you sleep in and have to set up a huge display of your art while the crowds are hovering.

You've got the cutest little...

My First Quilt

Animal Crackers3

After what seems like months, between sewing and stitch ripping, thoughts of quitting...yes thats quitting, NOT quilting...I'm finally finished.

The story of my first quilt:
1. In the fall of 2004 I discovered ebay, and bought a bunch of fabric (yardage, fat quarters and squares) PRE-Sewing machine.
2. Winter 2004/05, sold all my fat quarters and yardage because buying a machine looked rather bleek)
3. Spring 2005 bought the Singer Q140
4. Sewed a quilt top, awaiting for the news of a baby girl.
5. It was a boy.
6. Started the top of this quilt with the squares I didn't sell.
7. Bought the back panel on Ebay, put the wrong address, weeks of waiting.
8. Started the actual quilting, major sewing issues.
9. Spent many hours ripping out stitches, and cursing.
10. Started the quilting process again, wondering if I bit off more than I could chew for my first sewing project.
11. Stared at it for days wondering if I should take it apart again, but then convinced myself that my friends love me no matter how poorly I sew.
12. Began the final border, the finished edge...again I got half of it on, and took it apart.
13. Made another trip to Fabricland and finally asked how the hell to use the bias tape.
14. Two nights of hunchback hand sewing.
15. Ta da! My first quilt.
