JCP Rocks

You know how sometimes you just have this gut feeling about something? Well on my quick three day outlet shopping roadtrip(NY-PA-OH-NY) I decided to cut thru a JC Penny's in Buffalo. My eye was immediately drawn to a rack of striped shirts for under four bucks a piece. The sales clerk kindly asked me to come back in a couple minutes and when I did, they were all marked down to $1.77 - UNBELIEVABLE. How does a $40-50 shirt end up costing around the same as a cup of coffee?!?!? Needless to say I went into every JC Penny's that I happened to pass in those three day, but alas, the shirts were always at least twelve dollars. Oh, did I mention that these are going to end up in a quilt? I supposed you may have already guessed!

Numero Uno

first quilt

It began as a crib size quilt, but somehow its become more like a glorified baby lap quilt(I'm sure I just made that up). In school when I was told to "measure twice, cut once" to avoid any mistakes. I have to wonder if that really works for quilting...sigh...I know what I did wrong, maybe no one would have noticed if I didn't mention anything. Anyways, this was specially made with LP in mind, but she went and had another boy. I don't think DT would appreciate such a girly quilt for Luke Russell. This quilt still needs a back and the edge sewn on, that may not happen for a while now...gotta start the boy quilt!

Tonight I started cutting the blocks for quilt number two, it went rather smoothly I must say. I'm not hating ironing either, there is something relaxing about doing it, when its not clothes! These are the fabrics I'm using for this one. I forgot to pick up safety pins today, so the first quilt is on hold. I'll post a pic when I'm finished, the top is done, I just have to assemble it.

See that orange square at the bottom right corner? Thats what I was looking at for the past eight months without opening the package, wondering to myself, what the hell was I thinking when I bought this. Only at the beginning of the week did I realize that it was my Kaffe Fassett set, which I love. This is going to be the first sewing project. I've already cut them and I'm ready to start sewing all the pieces. I'll keep you posted!

Yeeehaaa, I love getting packages in the mail. It puts a little kick in my step, wish I didn't put a ban on my ebay purchases for the rest of the month...I'll see how that goes.

Put the blame here

My Singer

Here it is, my Singer 140Q. I will now be using this as my excuse for not knitting this summer. What a beauty! Now if I can only get to the ironing.

Charmed, I'm sure!

I finally got my first set of Amy Butler fabric today in the mail. I have so many plans for this fabric, just you wait and see. However, nothing is going to happen until I wash and iron it, have I mentioned I hate ironing. I'd better learn to love it, 'cuz its a huge part of making a quilt! These colours are from the CHARM collection in Rosey.
